Biography
I help turn language AI (NLP) ideas into government-adopted tools and self-sustaining practitioner networks. On any given project, we determine whether a use case is worth building, find the right partners to build it, and design the handover so it runs post-donor-funding. The open-source community (MbazaNLP) I co-founded, is an early-stage collaborative platform for both engineers/developers and linguistics that now supplies trained talent, evaluation capacity, and open resources that our projects and government partners draw from. Beyond NLP, I apply the same approach of discovery, prototyping, evidence, and handover to data innovation challenges across themes such as climate financing, gender responsive budgeting, and population-level targeting using national census to identify public service delivery gaps: making data useful for institutions that need it but lack the technical capacity for use case definition, assessment, and implementation.
