Robotics Maker's Lab (NGA)

The New Generation Academy Robotics Maker’s Lab is a GIZ-supported, MINICT-partnered innovation hub in Kigali that provides hands-on STEM education in coding and robotics for Rwandan students and teachers. Officially inaugurated in November 2024, the lab is equipped with 3D printers, laser cutters, and VR headsets, serving up to 25 learners per session and accessible to schools across Kigali during regular hours and holidays. It supports Rwanda’s national robotics program by bridging the technology gap and building 21st-century digital skills aligned with the competence-based curriculum.

Implementation impact

Multiplier effect: training ~4 teachers per school established a critical mass capable of sustaining operations independently. The Robotics Maker’s Lab will catalyze Rwanda’s long-term transformation into a digital-ready nation by cultivating generations of innovators skilled in coding, robotics, and STEM. By empowering teachers and students nationwide, it fosters homegrown technological solutions, drives economic diversification, and positions Rwanda as a regional leader in 21st-century digital education and innovation.
